Fvwmconf worked in 2002. It probably does not work with current versions of fvwm .
This is an fvwm2 module to interactively configure the window manager fvwm2. I last change was a bug fix (2002) for a user.
Screen shots. These are somewhat out of date, but they give the basic idea.
FvwmConf requires perl and perl/tk. I only test it with recent versions of both under Linux-- it almost certainly requires quite recent versions of both. It seems that fvwm.2.0.42 may not work because it is too old. I am testing only with fvwm2.0.45 . It has been used successfully on a number of PC's running linux and on some kinds of Suns (any SGIs ?) I have no report yet of a platform with perl/tk on which it refuses to run. Please send e-mail to the author (lapeyre@physics.arizona.edu) if you try fvwmconf, especially if you have any comments, bug reports, installation problems, etc.
Here is the distribution. All you need is fvwmconf.x.xx.tar.gz . The packages of images are not neccessary. They contain images for backgrounds and icons, etc. Approximate sizes are shown below. Extract the distribution and image files in your home directory.
There is also a Debian linux package. This should be the best option if you are running Debian. After installing, you can use 'man FvwmConf'. (It is now avaiable at debian ftp sites in the unstable distribution.)
You also need the Perl/Tk module. It is quite easy to install.
FvwmConf also all but requires the netpbm package or imagemagick to convert images. Many Linux distributions come with these as a standard or optional package. FvwmConf will prefer imagemagick over netpbm if both are installed. imagemagick will handle more image formats, so you may want it. However, I have made multiple copies of most of the supplied images so that you can get by without it if neccessary. In this case you would want both the xpm's and the gif's. (This is out of date ! I am now using ppms and not gifs, so both xpms and gifs will have to be converted. Some day it will settle down. You will get the quickest response browsing if you convert things to ppms.)
